Brief history of Ejura Agricultural College and Mechanization Centre

Ejura Agricultural College was initially commissioned as Agricultural Mechanization Centre (AMC) in 1964 under the Ghana Government and the United States International Agency Co-operation with the mandate to train personnel from the then government establishment engaged in mechanized farming.
In 1965, the institution became the Ejura Farm Institute (EFI) as part of the new Ministry of Agriculture policy and had an additional objective of training the youth in modern general agriculture.
The institution became fully integrated into the Agricultural Colleges programme in 1977 under the institution name Ejura Agricultural College.
Again in 1983, the institution was commissioned as an Agricultural Mechanization Training Centre (AMTC) under MoFA and Baden Wurttenberg State of West Germany bilateral agreement with the mandate to offer mechanized agricultural training, repairs and maintenance as well as mechanical services to farmers.
Three years later in 1986, the institution was finally redesignated as Ejura Agricultural College and Mechanization Centre under a reviewed policy of MoFA with the objective of the Agricultural College and Mechanization Training Centre running concurrently.
Since its inception as an agricultural college in the late 1970s, the college had run on Three-Year Certificate in General Agriculture programme until 2018 when the curriculum was revised to a two-year certificate programme in General Agriculture.  Currently, there are plans to upgrade its status to that of Diploma awarding institution.
